Gus, that knitting is unbelievably beautiful. Brava!

I’m looking forward to seeing feral feet flinging forth, of course.

I’ve been up to no such good. A few family problems that have needed sorting with care, but nowt out of the ordinary. Dinner was stuffed mushrooms, salad and halloumi chips.

Know what I hate? Sewing on buttons, that’s what.
I can embroider fairly well, but give me a button and a threedlened and I am what the Pa described as ‘a pig with a musket’.

Glurk.

Today we have British Standard Grey.

No, not the tea, that would be British Rail Grey and not allowed in the Cellar. I’m talking about the sky… oh never mind.

Don’t sit on the cold step you’ll get piles

You just cannot win with old wives tales…

They also said “don’t warm your hands on the radiators, you’ll get chilblains.” This worked a bit less well when none of the kids had the slightest idea what a chilblain was (and indeed I have never met one).

Thank God fasting, dear. They were the bane (or blain) of my childhood until we finally got central heating.

Speaking of cold, today we are foolishly leaving the Soft South and going North, to a place where the temperature is not going to reach double figures all weekend. Brrr. See you on Tuesday, probably.

We were just overtaken by a penny-farthing. By jct 28 of the M1.

Okay, it was strapped to the back of a car, but but I reckon a stout chap/chapess pedalling furiously would have been in with a chance. As I said, the M1.

I do hope that Oscar is not being charged with the scoffage of cake. It does look rather good.
