It has been an interesting weekend.
The AB had his op on Friday, all was reported to have gone well and he was tired but (unusually) cheerful that evening. Yesterday morning we had a call from the hospital to say he had pneumonia (again) and, more seriously, his kidneys appeared to be failing. Visited yesterday evening and he was only semi-conscious and seemed unaware. First thing this morning another call to say he was not responding to treatment and was being moved onto palliative care. This afternoon’s visit found him completely unconscious and on a morphine pump, but he appeared comfortable at least. Just waiting now, I guess.
I am sorry this is happening, TFM.
Thanks, Fishy. These things are always difficult but he’s 95 now, the last 7 months have been miserable for him and it didn’t look like getting any better so…
Candles lit for you all, TFM.
I hope that he remains peaceful.

What that Fish and wor Chatelaine said, TFM.

Fevvery hugs (an’ therapeutic gin) to Team TFM.
Thanks all. The one good thing I can say is the the ward he has been on since Monday seems to be in a different class to the 4 others he’s been on since Sept - communication and patient care have both been poor until now imo, but this ward has been excellent so far. The specialist palliative care nurse we spoke to today also gave a very good impression.
I have bin & gorn & come back from Tiny Tesco.
Candles lit.
Quattro fired-up.
Vodka/Gin/Wotevva poured.

I admire the AB for his refusal to give up without a fight
Even though it’s wearing on the rest of his family
AB indeed
Thank you, Twellsy. The fight is over now though, he died just before midnight.
We’ll be a little busy today.
