So, who wants to help ... to frivol in the cellar? (Part 2)

I spoke with wor Posh earlier.

She has yet another borrowed 'phone & no access to the Internetty, so we have only just managed to catch up with each other.

She has been at home for a week, as they were clearing beds for Covid patients.

Patrick was in disgrace, as he has, apparently, nipped 1 of the Noo carers, although not broken the skin.

Sigh

I really feel for Posh and also Patrick. Such a disturbing situation for them, both.

I am trying to encourage continuity of electricity supply, as she has her Orsepiddle bed & CPAP machine, which need it. She has put more than £50 into the meter this week

Sigh

Don’t get me started on the higher costs of ā€˜Pay as you Go’ meters…

You are a wonderful source of consistent support, Carinthia. I take my hat off to you.

We no longer chat at Stoopeed o’ clock in the night, because of the CPAP mask. If she takes it orff, an alarm sounds at another Orsepiddle.

She has been in Orsepiddle for 18 weeks this time, so is ready to be at home again. I, meanwhile, am crossing every digit…

I shall do likewise. Best nights, Carinthia and all.

I look at Posh’s situation and can only weep for her and marvel at Irish care systems

I know how lucky I am with all my support and care

Me too. I don’t know Posh, but this is heartbreaking.

There are a lot of people on their own who fall through the huge cracks in the care system.

Posh has advocated for, & supported the disadvantaged all her life. I am trying to make sure that her voice is heard.

Good on you dear Chatelaine

I only ā€œknowā€ Posh from BBC ML of yore but I always found her to be a quick witted poster full of fun

I also knew that she was an advocate and representative of many

Thus it is more upsetting than normal if possible to hear she is not getting the care and respect anyone deserves

Has her union washed its hands of her?

If so shame on them

What she needs is a ground floor flat in New Brighton, near her ā€˜support group’ & she would be fine.
She has been on the housing list for almost 5 years.

The union can’t do anything about that.

Covid almost killed her, but it did bring about a diagnosis of her very rare condition which is something, at least.

I am baking some bacon and making some onion gravy to go with cabbage and mashed spuds

I find baked bacon with cabbage and mash too dry

It can be rather dry like that.
I preferred to boil it, adding in potatoes, carrots and cabbage wedges according to cooking time towards the end, and make a mustard/parsley sauce with the liquor and some cream.

Ooo parsley sauce

There’s an idea…

I’m sorry, the National Pie appears to have been mislaid on its way to the Cellar.

No parsley

However I have shrooms and double cream and loads of yogurt so a weird sauce will be made for me

He is a plain eater who likes his food dry

I fancy some of Nadiya’s spice mix in my sauce

Thank you Gus

I always forget roux based sauces or creamy ones either

Boiled bacon brings memories of skool dinners with fishy tasting (from feeding fish meal from by catch to pigs) boiled bacon yellow cabbage and grey lumpy mash slithering around the plate on the water from the bacon
