Modom’s Friday Night Flollop
Both ladies of elegance and refinement!
Absolutely! And, the ability of these gorgeous animals to ‘air off’ is an example to us all, surely. Or, not.
Anyhoo - I am considering my options for accommodation, once the hive is sold, so wish me a night of sleep, if you will. Best nights, Cellarites.
Soo xx
Soo, I am not going to ponder that too deeply.

I wish I had a monster eucalyptus tree. Or a monster any kind of tree. It was hard enough finding a house that suited us without insisting it had a monster tree in the garden and whereas I am planting trees (or rather choosing them, TFD does the planting ) I’ve left it a bit late in life to grow my own monster.
Anyway, I am getting another (small) tree. I thought I had enough now (is there such a thing as enough trees?) but when I discovered there is a tree called Louisa, how could I resist?
I love crab apples TFM
That one looks to be gorgeous
My ambition is to have a weeping tree in our garden.nature reserve
The eucalyptus in our garden is a good 30 metres tall and similar crown diameter though its open crown allows light through I love it and even a tree surgeon looked at it and decided it is too beautiful to even think of putting a chain saw to
There are Sossinges
Just sayin’

This has prompted me to show you how my liitleweeping willow has come on in 11months.
End of September last year…
Today…
It’s doing OK, isn’t it!
It is doing great
I am in my natural habitat now
Beer is nice
That willow is indeed doing well. And what a pretty pink blossom your crab apple has.
Crab apples must be hardy, because they do very well here in Ottawa. There’s a variety called ‘Siberian’, that tells it all, doesn’t it?
We have a ‘Sugar Tyme’ in our garden. Pretty white blossom and it keeps the tiny red apples on all throughout the winter, looks pretty against the snow The apples are so hard and inedible that they don’t attract wasps and the birds aren’t interested either.
But they do make wonderful, glowing red jelly. Siberian crabs are best for that, but Sugar Tyme is fine. Just don’t chew on the pips.
My earliest memory is of ‘helping’ my grandmother to pick crab apples for jelly - me standing on a stepladder, Gran holding my legs. I’m told I was just two at the time. I remember loving the jelly too but that was probably another year.
It’s the easiest of all the fruit jellies to make, because of course the crab apples are absolutely full of pectin so it is certain-sure to set just using ordinary sugar. And they really aren’t much use as any other sort of food so there is no conflict of interest about using them that way. I have always loved crab-apple jelly.
[yawnity] Tseep?
A mob of jackdaws next door. Place is goin’ downhill. Just the way I like it.

Morning all
Pub grub sort of dinner last night was of the requiring crampons to scale it variety in a mixing bowl piled high with chicken Caesar salad with wreaths of crispy smoked bacon (several pigs’ worth thereof)
I did my best and ensured no bacon was left at least
The starter of half a pound of deep fried goats’ cheese was quite delicious too
We found a surprise Galway crystal shard with our names engraved on it as a presentation of appreciation in our office this morning
Like the trophies competitors win but personalised to ourselves
Such a surprise to find a wee fancy token
Aren’t we so lucky?
Apropos crab apples Grandma would always make gallons of crab apple and blackberry jelly to line the walls of the cellar with
I would have purple hands from late August to early October as I was her willing slave
I have to be in the mood for goat cheese, & I fear that half a pound might have been too much of a good thing for me.
It rained for most of the night here.
