Well, here’s our physio assistant:
There is something to be said for the way health care here is a mix of public and state controlled private care here
It means that by using private care we are not putting as great a burden on public resources
I just have to train my new GP that way
I am constantly amazed by the horror stories from other cellarati
10 or 11 hours for a nambulance wasn’t it dear Fish?
Here in the remote west calling out of hours GP about my asthma can have multiple ambulances on the drive within the half hour
- the quack on call for good measure!
Sutvived the Great Wen, with the help of an egg and bacon sammich from Dino’s across the road from Marylebone Station.
Dino’s is a wonderful resource.
Twellsy, you have multiple rare/unusual conditions which could become very serious.
1). Of course they are going to do everything to keep you going.
2). It’s a numbers game. There are a lot more of us.

I know there are fewer medics per head with you
I still get annoyed when my mates get less than optimum care
Physio was mean
She got a trainee to assess me
Poor trainee now knows about folk what trained as dancers are like when on a bed using legs to keep em fit
And the situps are not bad either
I have been discharged until I can bear weight on my foot
Late night online shopping:
- 1 bottle Lagavulin 16yo
- 1 oscilloscope
As you do.
Usually I’d buy the oscilloscope after extensively sampling the Lagavulin.
Neither will actually be here for a few days, alas. The Lagavulin is a Christmas present for me. The scope is something I’ve actually wanted for a while and just happened to see a decent one on ebay at a ridiculously low bid. OK - it jumped a but before the auction closed but (having nearly forgotten) I managed to jump in at the last few seconds. I am now the proud (if somewhat surprised) owner of a rather nice two-channel storage scope…
(Next purchase will probably be a measure for the Lagavulin - just to eke it out. I’ve been trying to track down a bottle for about five years, but apparently there’s been a worldwide shortage - presumably a consequence first of Brexit then covid.)
I’m surprised at the Lagavulin shortage, joe. I bought some for SiL a couple of years ago and, as far as I can tell, other bottles are still giving off its peaty-smokey aromas freely over the world.

It’s what I was told - been trying to get a bottle for the last few Christmases! It’s been bought by bloody Diageo, though - I wouldn’t put it past them to withhold stock and push the price up.
I wouldn’t know about cost. Everywhere, among the usual suspects, seems to stock it. Maybe a trip to Moffat?

Soo bluddy Brexit has made buying many things from the mainland of the British isles well nigh impossible to get here
Like my beloved tea is ridiculous in cost when the customs tax is added
So I understand Joe’s excitement about an affordable whiskey
BB has been a BB for many things. (Small grrrrr, in case I’m heard.)
Supper, chez bee? Frittata with mushrooms fried in butter with garlic and steamed greens. A scattering of chopped parsley, mainly for me, and tomato bread for him.
Soo xx
He didn’t say it was affordable, Twellsy. He said that it was his Christmas present
Tiny Tesco had reduced spinach, so there will be Oeufs Florentines tomorrow, & possibly creamed spinach wiv garlic will be made too.

On the cards already! might be doing a gig in the distillery next year (and I’ll be putting my name down for a bottle of single malt - the first batch should be released early in 2026!)

I’m pretty well cursed - no sooner do I acquire a taste for something than it seems to be delisted. Latest is Tesco Finest chocolate ginger cookies - serious ginger kick! - which is still available in UK. Before that, Roberts Kenya tea and of course Hen. They really don’t seem to want me as a customer…
So I understand Joe’s excitement about an affordable whiskey
Not that affordable, alas…
Joe a special treat is ahem affordable if you can actually contemplate buying it
I would love lots of things but they are way out of my reach ever!
I am keeping an eye out for hen and proper job too
I also sometimes feel that Tesco just tease me with things I grow to like then they disappear…
Around the second decade of this century Sainsburys discontinued so many of the lines I went there for that they completely ceased to be worth the premium I had to pay to shop there, and I stopped doing so and started to shop only in Lidl instead. Can’t say I have regretted it.
