And remember if you see a bird in yer gin silo we’re just shelterin’ from the wevver.
NALL, Darling. Poor Patrick, and poor Posh. Actual candle will be deployed when it is safe to do so.

Only our Bees… Good work!
Love it, Soo!

A certain amount of wind overnight but here in the Soft South we’ve had nothing serious.
yardarm
I’m sure we’ll be sendin’ out the emergency gin bowsers soon…
It’s the recycling bin today.
The empty ones are waltzing.
It was & remains very noisy & windy.

Cat 2 hurricane here according to the news
We haven’t yet ventured out
I don’t think that I would bother, Twellsy.
Stay in & keep warm, & (relatively) safe.

we are warm snuggled by the stove with a camping stove to boil the kettle for tea and coffee
All cats and parrot are with us in the existing in 1650 bit of the dwelling that was on an earlier house
We reckon that is the safest place in a storm
Right
Don’t fall over a cat then
Or a parrot…

I cannot think why we are using our generator
Zoom in and out of map to see numbers of faults/outages
Basically the whole country has outages
Wouldn’t they just!
Landlocked counties are well known to flood by seawater of course aren’t they?
The Barrow can get very choppy, I’m told…
Meanwhile, RTÉ’s George Lee offers a really useful insight into Irish weather:

And I bet he went to college to qualify so he can say so in an edumacated way
we went for generator fuel once we hit the yellow warning time
One neighbour has 4 trees down and another a few ridge tiles gone
No power in our village but the next one inland (Lisseycasey) has a bigger shop so we got petrol there and checked on our friend who lives alone
She is fine
So there were a lot of trees with chainsawed bits tractored into fields off the roads but driving with care all was passable on the bigger roads
We now have a happily well fed generator and are back in the warmth
We were lucky and had no power shortage. However, we are living in a very arboreal area and had some strong gusts of wind so we hunkered down and made a decent Goan cod curry with roast potatoes and greens.

We still have no power and It will be days before the power grid is restored
much needed wee birdie
It’s quite something the way Eowyn has the country on its knees but inspiring the way the country folk are quite self sufficient with back up cooking heating and lighting
The ones I feel for are dairy farmers with milking parlours not working
Timmy has just died
I am very sorry to read that, Twellsy. Please accept a fuzzy hug or three.
