Finest kind!
Wowsers! Yum.
It is! Even Iâve had a bit and I donât normally like cake but I love ginger and this is so gingery I had to try, and I enjoyed it. The smell stopped us in our tracks as we walked round the market.
Now I need to go recipe huntingâŚ
Ditto
I need to find a loaf tin type of gingerbread or parkin
I may be some time with dead tree recipe books
This one looks interesting - but need to source some proper stem ginger in syrupâŚ
I will be baking for ABI and selling to my craft group and the Friday get together of the Active Retirement association
So I need receipts that are quick and easy to throw together
No treacle in that one though. I know less than nothing about baking cakes, but Ian did say his was made with proper black treacle - hence the stickiness, I guess.
My mother used to make a ginger cake that involved molasses. I never had the recipe, though, so I havenât tasted it for many years.
Mam used to make gingerbread loaf using treacle. If it burnt (slightly) I would cut off and eat those bits. Yum.

I refer you to an early cellar where I provided Rachel Allenâs sticky gingerbread recipe. I still think that takes some beating. Donât think tooo hard about the sugar content.
If treacle is the key, this one looks good (and I see itâs from a Ballymaloe alumna!)
