Am awake now, for the moment…

Mr Janie and I were once chased by a hippo. We did luckily get to the landrover before it, but I fully believe it would have outpaced us given time.

That’s not a sentence I expected to read, Janie!

I have just inadvertently coined a word. Havering between ‘blasted’ and ‘bastard’, what I said was ‘barstly’. I feel it has a certain ring to it.

(I am told by a friend that the word is “jīngbào”, roughly “shocking” or “unexpected”, so the intended meaning is probably something like “you won’t believe these prices”.)

Also often to be found in the bagging area.

I have just spent quite a large part of the afternoon wandering around muttering “how the hell did I lose a DOUBLE BED SHEET?”

The answer turned out to be “by putting it on top of everything else in a stack of stuff, where it sat being far too small a parcel for a sheet so that my eyes simply skimmed over it.”

Bluddy annoying that.

I was looking for something last night, & found it an hour later hiding in plain sight on the back of a chair.

Will an double sheet be big enough, Fishy? I was thinking of how much there will be hanging at the sides & bottom.

Yes; a flat sheet has to be able to tuck in, and that overhang does make it big enough.

The measurement taken (using a double bedspread as a guide, because we have still a small amount of the sense God promised a doorknob at the beginning) was that the bedspread wants to be 220cm x 240cm, that being the size of a Dunelm bedspread; the sheet says on its wrapper that it is 240cm x 260cm. so we should be ok.

Heaves sigh of relief, but lights Candle anyway.

I had to put an pleated frill on an bedspread when furnishing fabric was only 48” wide. The more modern 54” is much better for that.
