First thing a new quack decided to send me home
After physio and respiratory nurse
So a baby quack arrives to go through meds for home
I was confused about this and got the nurse to see what was happening
Wait for the physio at respiratory nurse and not to pack up yet
So physio came and produced a new elastic for my fancy splint for my droopy foot
Her machine says that I am not a candidate for oxygen at home
I could have told her that
So I was resting and baby doc comes back
Nurse told him that the respiratory nurse was to see me and her input about Discharge noted
So respiratory nurse arrived and decided to change a lot of my inhalers
She also said that she and physio would see me tomorrow
Hot on her heels comes the boss quack who was unaware of my lack balance etc and so I am to stay till Wednesday for physio to help me balance
Then baby doctor has a last try to get me home so he trots off to the nurses station to read my notes
Eventually he reappeared to tell me that I am staying till Wednesday
What part of wait for the input from the experts in managing the condition does he not understand?

The spectre of the Bed Manager.
The one at our Orsepiddle is a friend of my cousin - I made both their Prom/Ball gowns 25 years ago.
She has to trawl the Orsepiddle all day & every day trying to find/free up beds

Well the two experts are of the opinion that a wee bit longer is better than out and bouncing back in
Physio and respiratory nurse both know their stuff and could give baby quacks lessons in communication and how to treat patients and their families

Tell them you’re staying until you have finished knitting yer jacket… .
I meant to ask you if you have a Nebuliser at home? A friend with lifelong heart/lung problems can’t manage without hers.

Yes, nebuliser at home. With appropriate medications, and accessories, including spares. I did ask some pointed questions, making it clear I suspected management rather than clinical decisions were being made …

The colour sergeant is there to stop the second lieutenant from getting people killed. The senior nurse is there to stop the junior doctor from getting people killed.

So remove some senior nurses to ease bed shortages? That could work…

I am of the opinion that junior quacks should be tied to the bed and treated like they treat hapless patients

Given one of the things they did to me, I’m entirely in agreement.
The said, I should add that I’ve generally found anaestheists to be very effective, helpful and pleasant, so I will excuse them from any part of the revenge. Especially the bits where tubes are inserted into places where no tube should rightly go - even with anaesthetic

Oooo

Gorgeous gorgeous girl
Joe I am plotting using my big fat blunt knitting needles on the baby quack
Especially to guide a catheter and then I will tie a knot in the tube of said implement
I will learn him about patients with inventive minds and humble tools

Well, I imagine anyone’s tool would be a bit humble after that kind of treatment.
You are evidently On The Mend, dere.

Having w#rked with anaesthetists and surgeons, I have a greater affinity with the former. Maybe it’s just me and, anyway, they’re a bit like love and marriage used to be said to be.

One is an intelligent animal and the other a cumbersome and often over-ornate status symbol incapable of self-direction? Surely not…
