So, who wants to help ... to instaurate the cellar?

How are you feeling now, Joe?

Relieved!

The problem was backing up almost an entire drive as part of a general reorganisation / clean-up. Not exactly onerous, but time consuming - and not helped by a computer that has its tenth birthday in a few weeks. Bulk transfer by USB2 is not fun!

I could have just let it do its own thing and gone to bed, but I’ve seen that go horribly wrong in the past, so…

Definitely deserving of that yardarm.

Feral RAID-0s everything except laptops, and runs automatic daily backups of everything.

I just lies back and sips me gin.

That makes sense, thanks.

Hope you’re feeling better now joe.

No-one tell Pammy but I’ve probably been eating a member of her family, I’m stuffed full of Tamworth sausages.

Unfortunately I don’t have that luxury.

Wouldn’t really have helped in this instance anyway. This was adding a new drive to consolidate storage of specific files, to free up space on the others. Whatever happened, I was going to have to sort through them manually.

Meanwhile, just got collared to help someone with their tax, only to find we can’t log in because “your certificate has expired”. So, we go digging for an updated one, and are informed that instructions were sent in an email last month. So I open the email:

Revenue has sent you new correspondence.

I recommend to your attention a Grate Big Storage Server. So huge that fifteen years of TA is a mere drop in the bucket, and the bucket is lost on the sea…

(If we kept fifteen years of TA, which would of course be Norty.)
