Ah, read The Silver Chair for advice about that – in the cookery book at the giant’s castle.
Problem is I cannot get to the Giant’s castle since that delinquent cow seller chopped the beanstalk down
Bluddy fool doing away with a nitrogen fixer growing so well
You’ll just have to go the long way through the Northern Waste, then.
But my hel shoes are at the cobbler as are my seven league boots
I wonder if Odin would lend me Slepnir?
Just follow the signs; what could be simpler?
Over THAT terrain without proper footwear or a flying hoss?
It’s what you have to do. With winter coming on, and snow.
Or under it. Occasionally burrowin’ sparrer, me.
Right pass me a dwarf or a goblin
They are handy lads at the digging
Sorry, all you get is a Marsh-Wiggle. Good at fishing, not so good at burrowing.
Bluddy useless over icy rocky snowy terrain!
How can I get hold of a dwarf?
Traditionally you offer them some gold from the bottom of your river.
Would gold from the depths of my bog hole work?
Living at the top of a hill means rivers are rare on our land
Bogs we do with great ease and carbon storing too
A curry-ish bean hotpot is now in the oven
It looks quite nice
We have a small round of beef roasting, which I intend to serve with Yorkshire pudding, sprouts fried in garlic butter, and gravy made with the juice from the roast.
Oooo sprouts - I love em…
[zips mouth]
(Both in order not to cause offence and to keep sprouts out.)
The dressing is (theoretically) knee-length, so no stocking on that leg. No dressing either, after the first couple of days…
(Actually it’s survived a bit better this week - it’s still covering about half the shin.)
What happened to the vegetarian shepherd?
I made myself some smoked salmon sandwiches wiv lemon pepper on, as I felt that a treat was in order.
Later will be Sossinges wiv garlic & cheese

Roasted butternut squash ‘salad’ is the plat du jour chez bee.

No news today, & I don’t want to 'phone again so soon.
We usually speak every week, & I had sent her a parcel of’ goodies’ for her to make over, or sell to fund her good works. I hadn’t heard that it had arrived, & realised that I hadn’t heard from her for 2 weeks.
She was chirpy enuff, but has a long-term problem which affects her feet, & walking anyway, & Covid has added to this, & her spatial awareness is all over the place ATM, so she keeps falling over. Not great when you live in a first floor flat.
Patrick has scores of admirers, & will be very well looked after, but he won’t be happy without her, or the crumpets from the cafe…
