So, who wants to help ... to instaurate the cellar?

Isn’t that always the way… But what you cook generally sounds abfab, so no need that I can see to fret ;- )

My thoughts entirely Gus

Our bee has full command of the kitchen and produces lovely sounding food

Aww. No point a Bee warring with a Limpet, though: Full CaCO3 Jacket.

Well, that’s kind, Twellsy. But, I don’t have command of any kitchen. Mr Bee izz almost versed in some beely food, but many recipes remain a mystery and he needs to learn 'em all. Says Oi.

My Son-In-Norway was having a BBQ with vegetarian burgers at lunchtime – because they had been on special offer, and he wanted to know whether his children would notice. He was planning to put them into brioche buns, which were also on special offer, so my bet is no.

And he assured me, from the height of his knowledge of the Norwegian language, that they contained no soya (which he read out to me: the Norwegian for “soya” seems to be “soya”) and would be safe for me. Well, that’s me told! But if they have bean curd in them I still can’t.

Apparently the food that the children miss most in Norway is strong Cheddar cheese.

Yes, I am having a lovely birthday, and still swigging champagne from a half-pint mug and nibbling on the food that seems to have taken over two tables in the cellar. The phone calls and e-cards and general "Hey, it’s That Fish’s birthday!"ness of it all has been fun too.

Shall I put this porkie pie I have for late night nibbling back in the cold room?

Coo, could they get that where they were before?

I commend their palates ;- )

Hey, Fish. For your next Birthday, I’ll make you a scrumptious repast of non-beany/legumey crappy stuff - I can do this. Having co-existed with one who is really quite ‘discerning’, without allergies, for decades, I’ll make efforts. Time forra bee bed.

Apparently you can get strong Cheddar in Oman. Perhaps at some Army And Navy Stores type place? And they loved it here, naturally.

I am contemplating taking a large (2.5kg) block of Cheddar from Booker or Makro with me if we are able to visit them at some point in the next five years or so.

Soo, I would love to try that. It’s only the bluddy allergies that make me chary about vegetarian eating: it’s so embarrassing for the host if one starts to swell up and turns purple starting at the wrists!

Yes - and a bit worrying, too. I honestly feel that I could cater for you with careful regard to your allergies, Fishers. Not skill, but a lot of experience.
Happy Birthday, Fishers,
