When you expect to be on your feet for eight hours, comfortable shoes seems simply sensible.
Not sure how much iniquity there was, but I am minded of a quote about someone objecting the the Women’s Institute on the grounds that they indulged in Unchristian Activities like Knitting and Crochet.

Does it have one of those parlous-looking glass housings like wot ours does? (I insisted on getting a spare before I put any welly into it, because if it shattered the oven would be unusable until we fitted a replacement. It didn’t shatter.)
