So, who wants to help ... to instaurate the cellar?

It’s a spectacular if slightly tacky sight, a whole herd moving in search of fresh grazing.

A little while ago, when I was knitting and in the middle of a complicated row so didn’t get up and turn the radio off, a stupid thing came on R4 about how ‘being grateful’ was good for your physical and mental health. The idea was that, at the end of each day’, you think of 3 things you are grateful for that happened that day. You then miraculously feel more relaxed and positive, you even sleep better.

Well I’d just like to say that it doesn’t bloody work if you get nearly to the end of the day and can’t think of a single good thing about it.

Any left for me?

Grateful to whom? (Or Whom, if you’re that way inclined.)

I mean, I can often think of things I’m glad about, but they may be random things that happened, not necessarily nice things people did for me.

Just ‘grateful’ innan undirected sort of way: the secular version of counting one’s blessings. V popular with rehab/addiction counsellors and allied charlatans, I believe.

Does one have to be mindful of these three good things?

A bottle of gin all of my own is a thing I can be grateful for. That’s good then and I guess there’s still enough day left for a couple more.

I am mindful of my gratitude for having good friends. Is that a bit soppy? Makes no difference, to me, if itizz.
