So, who wants to help ... to instaurate the cellar?

Or slice 'em before baking?

Cutting baked potatoes in half before cooking, on the other hand, results in delicious crunchy sides as well as the skins.

I expect a bit of tape will stop the sparrer from issuing Eliza Doolittle - esque squawks

If I was sent to the shop for a loaf of bread I would have the 4 crusty corners bitten orff before I got home…

Hence you get loaves proved in proving baskets so there is oodles of crust

Traumatised, that’s what I am: I saw something nasty in the woodshed aisle three.

I’ve seen Parma Violet Gin too. I suspect the thinking goes ā€œthis drink is trendy but we don’t actually like it; let’s see what else we can make it taste ofā€.

So have I. While I can’t say I fancy it myself, I don’t find its very existence as offensive as I do that of violet-flavoured cider, which is just Wrong.

The violet vodka I was bought was lovely , but I don’t fancy violet cider

Like purple potatoes & blue cakes , it’s Just Wrong…

Purple potatoes seem to be highly prized for some reason. The ones I have had were really not very nice at all.

I have had homemade Martyr Sauce burbling away in the slowcooker whilst I have been asweep for a couple of hours.

The Martyrs were reduced to 15p for a packet of 6, so it would have been rude not to…

Well, yes, absolutely!

We’ve had a Sudden (and brief) visitation from Sudden Daughter, who tested negative for covid yesterday (weekly testing at work) but had a slight cold today and has been sent home until Tuesday. She stopped off on the way past to have a mug of coffee and take away the casserole I bought for her about four years ago and she hasn’t wanted until now.

Gawd bless it and all who braise in it.
While it is always hurrah! for sudden Sudden Daughter visitations, I do hope she has not left you her cold.

I am cooking chicken for me (wiv mustard) and the Oaf (wivvout).I shall also have cauliflower cheese and green beans - Eugene Oaf (careful with those claws!) won’t get a look-in there. Although a Former Cat would steal French beans from our plates given half a chance.
I overestimated the capacity of me shopping trolley but had an overflow bag, luckily. And now the wherewithal for leek & potato soup, yay!

Some arsehole letting off very Loud fireworks nearby. The poor Oaf is terrified.
