Good-oh. It’s just that MB’s carefully cultivated ‘living national treasure’ persona sticks in the craw after a bit, for me. Wrong Kind of Listener syndrome, probably.
Didn’t hear anything.
Have been dozing & applying eye drops & didn’t get up until 2pm

How are the eyes, dear Chatelaine?
Have just made a very pleasing little snack (much though I hate that word, it’s a bit late to call it ‘lunch’, I feel). I had a small amount of cheese sauce left over from something or other, and some mushrooms. A couple of huge (closed cup, not field, but they were really big) quickly fried with seasoning and garlic, then into the oven under the cheese sauce until it bubbled. Resultant glop loaded onto toast.
Surprisingly good.
Breakfast is the first substantial thing I eat after I get up.
Lunch is the next substantial thing.
Easy.
(Sounds yum, Gus.)
I’m unsurprised, Gus. Beats my insalata caprese, although that wozza teeny bit yum.
Soo xx
But insalata caprese is gorgeous, so long as you can get really good tomatoes. The addition of avocado by some deviants to make it ‘tricolore’ absolutely ruins a very lovely thing, to my mind.
I managed the tricolore thing by the addition of basil. The tomatoes were at room temperature and were nudged a bit with teeny flakes of sea salt.
Still fancy your glop (sounds rood) though.

Basil is canonical

Talking of Basil, has anyone seen him recently? I do hope the poor beast is being fed.
Eyes are still sticky, but nothing like as bad as the last time, thank-you Gus.
I had the foresight (!) to purchase some more of the special eye drops in case it happened again, as the first time, it was 4 days before I could see to go out & do anything about it.
My own Pharmacy would sell me some, as they had done so before, but Boots wouldn’t, as they reckoned I needed a precription.

You did well to be prepared, Carinthia xx. I hope that the drops work their magic, quickly.

Good news from the Fishly Rellies:
I always knew fish were better in the water than on a plate!
Something very strange has happened. Now that virtually all the people are indoors, most of the herring gulls have disappeared too. There is less food around for them to steal, obviously, but where have they gone?
Must be trying to remember how to fish, I suppose. Watch out, Fishy!
They have probably gone inland and started to hang around and scavenge landfill tips.
Fewer kindergartners out at break for the poor things to pick off. Will no one think of the gulls?
There was a sort of mockup 2 or 3 weeks ago showing 2 seagulls on a wall with a toilet roll next to them. Written on the toilet roll was that it could be had for a bag of chips…

I don’t doubt there’ll be a few lean days, but they’ll be fine once the defenestrations start.

bugger. those emojihearts showed up black, which would have been far more appropriate, as I was posting
