So, who wants to help... to perpetuate the cellar?

I too have an electric slicer for bread & meat, but not at my caravan…

I lack the right sort of toys.

That reminds me of the sort of potato peelers used in chip shops for old potatoes, before ‘rumblers’ were used.

Wee bees know our place, mind. Looks fab, Hedgers.

There izzan significant amount of tool envy going on in the hive, so we’d appreciate a Hedgers’ review of the TINY CHAINSAW, when possible.

Looks like a proper loaf tin was used, like me Mother’s

They seem to be longer & narrower these days

We’re not still discussing ‘tool envy’, I take it?
Somebody had to.

The 2lb Loaf Tin was the most widely used in our house &, even as a child, the tins were dark-looking & stained, but they worked, & didn’t stick. Some of my Mother’s bun tins were my grandmother’s & they wouldn’t dare to stick either !

I had to replace a 50 year old 4 hole Yorkshire Pudding tin ,& getting the Noo one up to snuff took ages

Not sure that they would have coped with silicon bakeware at all ,says she who hasn’t tried it either

I bought a Good Friend a silicone cake ‘tin’. Fabulous baker though she is, she could never get away with my gift.

I will admit the utility of silicone stuff, but I don’t like the feel of it.

Hmm, we’ll have to wait fer them as bakes a lot to let us know what they think, Soo . I’m not sure that you get crispy edges with silicon, but I don’t know why I am saying that, really.

‘Seasoning’ new pans, & bakeware was done very carefully,& they weren’t soaked, rather wiped out or given the briefest of washes,& then dried out either in the cooling oven, or on top of it.

The advent of non-stick pans/bakeware made a huge difference , but it wasn’t very good in the beginning,& out of our price range for a long time

Pyrex has gorn shallower & wider too

Prolly since we went Metric…

I am able to tell you what that tin was:

http://www.britishbakeware.co.uk/bakeware/3lb-deep-farmhouse-loaf-tin/bw465

and when: 6/2/2018

But they no longer sell them, so searching the internet for a replacement when/if I need one will be a pain.
