She is a good, brave and virtuous Mini, and hurrah!
It’s doing pathetic, unconvinced snerr here. Enough to annoy a cat, but not settling. Despite a lazy, bisecting sort of wind.

Well, having taken 2018 orf, with renovating & then selling m-i-l’s house, burying the mother (she was a gonner, so no controversy really) and the renovating & selling hers … plus the great ‘kitchen of the year’ award here … I decided over Christmas that I could put off finding a new contract no longer.

Then, before I stirred my stumps I got a call asking what I was up to. So a week on Monday I start a new 6m (month. Not minute. That’d hardly be news now, would it !) contract. Which is good.

Though I’ll have to refind my halarming clock !!

I enjoyed 2018, mostly.

Snow on the ground here, flumping a bit down the solar panels but not visibly melting.

Last night I was out with some friends to talk about books. The restaurant was… very Marlow. For example we looked at this:

and thought “scallops with a hint of black pudding, that could be rather good”. But the cauliflower seems a bit much, the pickled raisins entirely superfluous, and… curry oil? That’s going to take over the entire flavour.

And this is wot they did to innocent pork scratchings:

Still, the goulash was about 70% as good as wot That Fish makes, which is very impressive; and the orange chocolate mousse was quite pleasant, even if the the mousse itself was clearly out of a tub.

What the flip is that in the goldfish bowl?

What are the egg yolks for?

That place is in an advanced state of autoascension, I hope you don’t mind me saying. ‘Morsels’, ffs.

Although the scallop combination sounds rather good to me. Easy for me to say that, of course, seeing as how I am Excused Scallops…

The goldfish bowl was what the chocolate and orange mousse came in - it was small segments of orange, plus spray cream and something vaguely meringue-like, on top of a bed of chocolate mousse which you can just barely see at the bottom of the glass.

Yes, Gus, I agree, but they did actually manage to produce food that tasted good.

I love scallops & black pudding, but I don’t want it as a crumb

That dessert looks all wrong to me, but then most do

Still having a go at snowing here, but it isn’t yet settling

Have you been for your appointment, Carinthia?

I have been dreamily drooling, thinking about the fried salt and pepper onion petals we ate, yesterday. Spicy edamame beans, too. Totally delicious. The rest of the food was okay, but nothing we couldn’t make in the Hive.

We have sner, but less than 2 inches. In fact, it seems to be melting.

We have enough sner for the dustbin men to have decided not to bother, unless they have left ours and collected everyone else’s which wouldn’t surprise me. Ours still have snow on the tops and other people’s ones I can see from the windows don’t, put it that way.
