Hortus gins are sold by Lidl. They do a London-style gin, a Spiced gin, a Rhubarb and Ginger gin and a Raspberry gin. The spiced one is said to be as good as Opihr, and tonight That Bird plans to test this, I think.

Paint the brown bits wiv a bit more rosepetal jam if you are worried - sort of culinary after-sun treatment. I am confident that it will taste as good as it smells and the iinterior will, trust me on this, be moist. Or for those who don’t like that word (actually I don’t, much) succulent.

Results of tonight’s Gin-Off: Hortus Oriental Spiced vs Opihr.

Both have noticeable spice flavours, but the Hortus is subtle while the Opihr jumps down yer froat. Hortus is about half the flavour strength.

I’ll go with the Opihr from now on.
