Lidl is your friend, Fishers.

Yes, but my problem is not “not enough cornflour” (which I don’t have because I never use it); it is 3kg more self-raising flour than I needed, and not enough plain.

I’d try the SR flour inna sauce, once I’ve heard your opinion on the result. It would probably be fine.

I’ll have a look in The Carinthian Cupboards & see if I have a spare pack of cornflour for you, Fishy .

If not, we will consult Shopping Sparrer , & if That Birdie can’t get it, I will buy some & send it to you

It will make very good sauces, although I can assure you that SR flour works too

I can’t, but I feel that Fishy wants to use up a surfeit of SR.

One solution:

1 x 25kg sack of flour
2 x 25l food grade plastic buckets with lid (the sort you use for home brewing)
2 x clean plastic sacks (e.g. swing bin liners)
1 x airtight food container:

30

Split flour into bags, place one in each bucket and seal.

Transfer to container as required.

We have a few eggses going spare. If I trebuchet over a few dozen, you could try for a world record-sized Victoria sponge…

BTW - I should add that the flour storage solution suggested above is currently being implemented chez nous.

I do, and I wouldn’t chance it.

I do realise this is not Helpful.

Also, cornflour is a fine thing but not a substitute for ordinary flour unless you know what you are doing.

I was tired after sinbathing with my knitting yesterday

So I went to bed and slept the clock round

Here I have a plastic bin with my 25kg bag of wholemeal bread flour and a large plastic box with my store cupboard of assorted flours

When one of my flour containers becomes empty yon Bull transfers flour into my airtight containers on the shelf behind my worktop
