129 Covid deaths at our Orsepiddle, & 11 still being treated.

The breaking news today is that here, in Derbyshire, we are being asked to wear masks when visiting a GP

And the next stage in the IoM story…

I have to admit, it makes me rather nervous, but at least our borders are to remain resolutely closed.

Wonderful

Well done the Manx
Our county is doing well here with 0 new cases diagnosed for the past 2 weeks

So cautious reopenings are happening like I can go to craft group again - cut down craft group but a craft group nontheless

Yay! A crafty outing for Twellsy to look forward to. That is splendid news.

I have just had a look at the gov-uk “how to make a face mask” instructions; they are suggesting that a single layer of t-shirt cloth is adequate. I really don’t think that it is…

It’s either that or the instructions are so poorly worded that it is impossible to know that two layers are needed…

I’m faintly surprised that there is no Official Supplier of Facemasks run by the brother of an advisor.

Our Orsepiss asked for donations of ‘face coverings’ yesterday, for visitors who don’t bring their own, & for staff/volunteers in the now open shops.

There are groups up & down the country making masks, scrubs, & scrub bags. Other companies/small businesses are using 3D technology to make face shields.

There are hundreds of videos on YouTube showing how to make masks/face coverings (some of the American ones are scary, TBH).
Anyhoo
The consensus is 2 layers of tightly woven fabric, with a pocket for a filter & a nose wire to improve the fit. The pleated ones, with the pleats going down seem to give the best results. They are not medical grade, & don’t pretend to be, but anything which discourages the sharing of germs in a confined space is no bad thing.

The lack of clear & timely advice from the government/advisors/advisor’s brothers over all aspects of this Pandemic has meant that many are living in fear & distress, whilst the other ‘many’ are following the Advisors’s Example, & thinking Bolleaux to the lot of you.

Still

At least we know how to wash our hands…

Government ‘could have been clearer’ on public transport face masks…

(Apologies to those who have seen it before)

I looked into this. Alas, the only ones near here take the form of “give us your printer, and we’ll give it back when the emergency is over”.

… “in the form of a small but vital aircraft component”?

We do; but when we have managed to gouge a lump out of our left little finger requiring a trip to the Minor Injuries Unit and steristrips and a gurt bandage (which does at least mean we are not belting into it by accident, or suddenly screaming as we type because we have unthinkingly used that finger to type with) it becomes a whole lot harder to do right.

But it’s a good excuse to park somewhere, wait for a phone message, put on a mask and drive off in a careful & legal manner. Ah, brings back memories…

You use your left little finger when you type? Respect! I thought I was doing well when I progressed to three fingers on one hand and two plus thumb on the other.

But that sounds like an ouch! How did that happen?

I was opening a pill-box! And it doesn’t even have sharp edges.

Oh, Fishy

When? How? And, please could you stop doing these things?

Brings a whole new meaning to Stay at Home, Stay Safe, Fishy…

WtF were you doing gouging yer Fishly Fingers?

Sigh

Actually, that has reminded me to check the First Aid supplies here.
I should think that the steristrips are drawing their pension as we speak

Poor Fishy

I am another who types differently to them as types proper

I can use my right hand only

Well the first two fingers and the thumb for the space bar

Left hand is no good at typing

Ah, iatrogenic then.
