Viral DOOM

A lot of people (naming no site in particular) are also not noticing the mechanism whereby supplies of any vaccine will be released in line with worldwide immunisation levels achieved.
I’m not saying that is a bad thing, necessarily, just that those who are bleating about getting it privately are in for a bit of a disappointment.
And the storage constraints for this one will slow delivery in less developed nations.
Here, some fuckwit will probably leave a freezer door open…

I had a Covid test on Monday as is standard in hospital

I was told verbally it was negative in hospital

Yesterday I was called by phone by the track and trace folk to tell me I was negative

A bit of overkill or had I gone before the hospital got the results just good practice?

Anyway I was impressed by the plague pit’s proactive approach to keeping Covid patients separate from the rest and the government’s track and trace team being so fast telling me

Had I been positive all people I had been near who had their phones on them would also have been texted

Prolly they reckon that someone’s likely to mess up somewhere so they might as well have a bit of redundancy.

Provided they have a sufficiently up-to-date smartphone, that is. My iPhone 6 (bought new in 2017 - in fact only launched in 2014) is deemed “too old”

My i-phone 6S is of a similar vintage and it works on mine

I know the 6S is bigger than the 6

Other than that I have no idea what the difference is…

You have to be running iOS 13 or later; the 6s can, the 6 can’t. I think it’s something to do with the Bluetooth implementation.

I should clarify: the app can be installed on mine, but the automated warning / tracking system won’t work. I can enter a test result manually, so presumably anyone with a suitable phone will get the warnings, but it won’t work in reverse.

And this is a country that didn’t have as a tender process “are you a friend of a minister, failing that are you a huge consulting company that has been repeatedly fined for failing to make good on government contracts”.

Slightly disappointed by the arrangements for student travel at the start of the Christmas vac. Why not send them home in crocodiles? Actual ones.

Never smile at a crocodile
Never tip your hat and stop to talk a while

Don’t be taken in by his welcome grin

He’s imagining how well you’ll fit within his skin

I’m sure the crocodiles would soon take care of that, given a plentiful supply of plump students.

As crocodiles lay clutches of dozens of eggs at a time the numbers of students in real crocodiles could be raised in jig time

That’s the whole beauty and genius of the plan. And it would add greatly to the gaiety of the nation. Oh, and crocodile hatchlings are really rather charming… Students not so much.
