Growing up in a town full of student accommodation I am of the school of thought that students are quite repulsive and any means of reducing their numbers would be welcomed
I am glad that our student experience azza family happened historically.

My tertiary education was a ballet school learning to be a teacher
Being well mannered and well groomed was part of the job for us
The students that infested our town were grubby and when they arrived so did a drug problem
Gosh, Twellsy, that must have been a bit difficult
Newcastle has had massive infestations of students from all over the globe and I wouldn’t want to pin muckiness or drug problems on them. Poor bairns.

Our Orsepiss has, once again, been on the local TV News
The first Lockdown cost so much in lost revenue that they asked for voluntary redundancies, & they expect the latest restrictions to cost £400,000
Sigh

Very sorry to read this, Carinthia.

It must be happening all over, Soo
We have 14 shops & 3 Cafes, & they have all had to close again

Meanwhile, the rules seem to be completely ignored by anyone under thirty. Shopping this evening, I was pretty much the only person not in a group of three or more, in many cases (to judge from overheard conversation) stocking up on booze to bring to various house parties.
If only the thing were a bit more lethal, we might see some selection pressure.
I know of 2 people elseboard whose close Rellies have it who have choice words about people flouting the rules…
Sigh

A word which has had an undeserved resurgence in popularity. Makes me teeth itch.
At least these days they are less likely to use “flaunt” when they mean “flout”.
Not a mumsnetter, are you… ;- )
Why would I deliberately expose myself to horrible people? You’ll be suggesting I get a television or a Facebook account next.
You’d be surprised what you find out on there!
Yrs,
An Horrible Person ;- )
I suppose even more annoying are those who don’t feel that the rules apply to them, yet voice annoyance at those who try to keep them

Last week before I was told that I had been in hospital with a positive patient I was in Tesco with the Bull
A woman of a certain age was wearing her mask as a chinstrap so the bull said that that mask was not going to do her much good
She whinged that her glasses steamed up
I said that my glasses steamed up as well
She fumbled the mask into proper place
Later in the car park she approached to ask if we could do our shopping online
We said truthfully that we do
But, Twellsy, I had reason to understand that you had been wearing a mask as a chin-warmer in Tesco. Was this not the case?

the bull said that that mask was not going to do her much good
Really not the point, it doing her good.
It’s every mask for itself out there.
