So, who wants to help ... to cower in the cellar?

Hurrah! for Hen Harriers; boo! to weak-and-wobbliness. A strong Medicinal is indicated. In fact, most of us could do with one, and anyone else can join in just to be sociable-like.

I would like to agree but just at the moment the suggestion upthread of Fearsome Ginger Drink appeals to me far more. In face now I come to consider it, right now I really don’t fancy the thought of alcohol at all.

That settles it. I must be ill.

Sounds pretty darned serious, TFM. Liberal quantities of Fearsome Ginger Drink are required - I am not poorly, but I could still fancy some.

The Fearsome Ginger Drink outlined to me that what I had thought was a cut lip is in fact a mouth ulcer – something I have never had before in my life, and which I quite failed to recognise, just knew it bluddy well hurt. Having inspected it (with a magnifying mirror and a strong light) and realised it wasn’t a usual thing for me, I took myself off the the Pharmacy for advice, was told what it was, and came home with some gel to make it hurt less.

I must say, putting gel on a specific bit of the inside of your mouth is not as easy as it sounds.

Ouch! Mouth ulcers really do hurt, a lot. I haven’t had one for very many years but I had them repeatedly years ago, and yes, the gels are very difficult to apply. I used to use some stuff called, I think, Frador, which was a liquid you painted on to the spot with a cotton bud and it worked brilliantly - both numbed and healed. Don’t know if it’s still available though.

What I got given is called Anbesol, and has had a wonderfully numbing effect – it is absolutely not to be used more often than every three hours, though.

Interesting. My entire mouth and tongue are sore, but definitely not ulcerated.

Sorry, that doesn’t sound very sympathetic, and ulcers are beastly. Hope it clears up in double-quick time, Fishy.

Iglu is a very effective gel that ‘dresses’ the ulcer and prevents further abrasion while it heals.

Roll on the discovery that you know exactly what three hours feels like.

Well that was entertaining. Usual late evening call with the Ma. I haven’t completely lost my voice as such, but have lost control of it. squeakcroak SQUEAK < patch of wheezy silence despite me articulating like mad > < brief burst of Fenella Fielding > squeakcroak SQUEAK
And then we both got the giggles, which made me Koff Horribly so the call was terminated.

Given that I am presently squirrelling stuff away for that winter-time celebration, I have noted your recommendation and shall visit Aldi this arvo. Just chased that Sp’awk away, again. No dead pheasants flapping about, at least.

Pore Gus! Fuzzy, no-touch-technique hugs from me.
